At Groom Curriculum, we’re raising the bar for dog grooming education by partnering with colleges and grooming professionals nation-wide to create a college-accredited, workforce-ready learning experience.
Groom Curriculum's Registered Apprenticeship Program
Our dog grooming curriculum is built specifically for the grooming industry and aligned with American Kennel Club (AKC) standards. Students learn through:
Research-based instruction with both formal and informal assessments
Data driven Google Meet sessions delivered by licensed educators
Tailored training modules with resource books and workbooks
Growth mindset journaling and durable skill development for professionalism
Theoretical training is delivered through our Learning Management System (LMS), while hands-on grooming instruction is delivered in your salon.

The Groom Curriculum Program
HOW WE’LL PREPARE YOU
The program has three components: self-guided online learning, virtual instruction from licensed educators, and hands-on practice with a credentialed instructor. Each institution has the flexibility to structure the training as it sees fit; most are completed in 10 to 15 weeks.

Join a community of professionals and gain access to industry events, workshops, and a network of groomers across the country.
Students get approximately 200 hours of hands-on practice with real dogs in working salons, learning grooming techniques from basic to advanced and preparing for job placement.
Get prepared to pass the AKC-PGC Exam
Through our comprehensive program, students will gain hands-on grooming experience while building essential durable skills, creating a solid foundation for a successful and enduring career in the grooming industry.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Students will learn expert grooming techniques, covering every aspect, from bathing and drying to advanced skin and coat care and the latest trends in modern styling. The curriculum includes in-depth instruction on canine anatomy, breed-specific grooming, and critical safety and sanitation practices to ensure both client satisfaction and animal well-being.
In addition to grooming expertise, our program emphasizes essential “durable skills” that prepare students for long-term success in the workforce.
RAP
Build Your Own Pro Grooming Team
A U.S. Department of Labor–recognized program for growing groomers in-house.
Our program is officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor under National Guidelines for Apprenticeship Standards. It combines structured on-the-job learning in your salon with guided online coursework, helping you build a team of professional dog groomers trained to national standards.
